Summary

There are a lot of misconceptions about how one gets into Heaven today. Most people think it is about being good, being born in the right family, or even being in church. While all these things are fine, Jesus tells us that there is only one way to Heaven. It is not about religion but about a relationship with Jesus. This is God’s Good News. Eternal life is not based on what we do (or don’t do); it is all based on what He has done for us through His Son, Jesus. Have you repented of your sins and committed your life to Jesus? And, are you growing in Him? Jesus is the goal, and Heaven is the reward. Trust and follow Jesus today.

Content

1. What does not get you into Heaven?

Salvation is found in no one else for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12

  • The entrance to Heaven is not based on good works.
  • The entrance to Heaven is not based on being born into the right family.
  • The entrance to Heaven is not based on how much you are in church or how well you know the Bible.
  • Entrance into Heaven is not based on religion but on a relationship.

2. There is only one way to Heaven.

Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6

  • The Bible is very clear that the only way to heaven is through Jesus.
  • Some people say, “Don’t all roads lead to Heaven?” But, all religions are not the same.
  • Religion is about man trying to get to God, but Christianity is about God coming to us.
  • This is the Good News of the Gospel.
    • For by grace, you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is a gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast.  Ephesians 2:8-9

3. When a Christ-follower dies, they go directly to Heaven.

Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with Me in paradise.” Luke 23:43

  • If you have a relationship with Jesus, then you go directly to Heaven.
  • What about purgatory
  • When you accept Christ, eternal life begins now.
  • Once you are saved, you are always saved.

4. What you do here on this earth impacts eternity.

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on this earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But rather store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:19-21

  • This life is preparation for eternity.
    • Jesus says, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of My Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 7:21
  • There are only 3 things that are eternal:
    • God
    • God’s Word
    • People
  • Are you investing your life in the things that will last for eternity?
  • There will be rewards in Heaven based on what we do here.
  • The question should not be: How do I get into Heaven? The question should be: How can I know Jesus?
    • Jesus is the goal.
    • Heaven is the reward.
